Panel is cradled. there is a visible crack which runs from upper edge down through face and body to the bottom edge. scattered retouches and re-workings can be seen in the green background. the figure has been well preserved. some small cracks visible in the right side of his black doublet. under ultraviolet: a few small retouches on face. the old varnish is difficult to see through and there are possibly older ones underneath, but very hard to tell. the apparent retouches in background do not fluoresce under UV. In a wood and gilt frame with worn and rubbed velvet liner.
