By whom given to the uncle of the present owner in the 1920's. 

Condition

Oil on canvas, with an old lining. The surface is covered by a yellowed, dirty varnish. The original edge of the canvas is visible at the upper left corner. Frame abrasions and scuffs to the surface. Stable web of craquelure. There is some thinness, especially in the sky, and some discolored retouches at upper right. Under UV light, the majority of the work is obscured by a green fluorescing varnish. There is one small spot of fluorescence that corresponds to the previously mentioned discolored retouch at upper right. Some additional older scattered lines of retouching, mainly to address craquelure, are visible.
