Condition
Oil on canvas, potentially unlined or with a very old, thin relining. Covered in a dirty, mottled varnish, which is especially dull along the upper edge. The head and face of the figure are well preserved while the paint is a bit thin and pressed in the black jacket and brown fur trim, and these areas have lost some definition. There are some old discolored retouches visible in background just above left shoulder and another area at far right side. Under UV light: the retouching above shoulder fluoresces, but otherwise can't see anything through the old varnish.
In an elaborately carved and gilt wood frame.
