Oil on canvas. The canvas has been strip-lined recently; there is an old lining as well. The original canvas is relatively coarse. The surface is in generally good condition aside from sirface dirt and dust and frame abrasions along the edges. Under UV light, there is a green fluorescing varnish that has been cleaned from the figures. There are also areas of strengthening to the shadows, especially around each figure in the composition, and there are retouches to the sky.
