Oil on canvas, with a relatively new lining. The picture surface is in generally good condition aside from being somewhat flattened. A stable web of craquelure across the surface, along with craquelure from the stretcher bars. Under UV light, there are areas of inpaint visible at the upper corners and another area in the landscape above the baby chicks. There are additional areas of retouching below the head of the chicken at lower right; in the head and body of the fox; and scattered in the sky.
