Oil on canvas, with a wax lining. The picture surface has surface dirt and dust and a stable web of craquelure. Some minor abrasions across the surface, with 3 small losses in the sky at upper center. Additional scattered spots of retouching scattered across the surface have discolored and are visible to the naked eye. Under UV light, there are older inpaints around the edges of the work. Somewhat newer dots of retouching and dashes to address craquelure throughout the sky and a few dashes in the dog, especially around the dark spots and front legs. A larger area of retouching is visible along the left edge of the tree at right.
