Oil on canvas, with an old lining. Stretcher bar marks visible at all four edges. The surface has been somewhat flattened. Frame abrasions at the extreme edges. The edge of the original canvas is visible along the top edge in the current framing. Surface dirt and an older varnish. Under UV light, minor scattered dots and dashes of retouching are visible throughout the work, though most of these appear older. The rest of the picture is covered by green fluorescing varnish.
