Condition
Oil on canvas, with an old lining. The picture surface is somewhat flattened and thinned by this lining. Surface dirt and dust. A small loss in the background near Christ's proper right elbow. Some pigment separation especially in the shadows beneath the Magdalene. The work is covered in a yellow, dirty varnish. Under UV light, the work is obscured by a thick green fluorescing varnish. There are some older retouches scattered in the body of Christ, mainly his torso, neck and nose. A few additional retouches are visible in the forehead of the figure at center as well as to address craquelure in the background, mainly at upper left.
