Provenance

Courtown House, County Kildare, Ireland.

Condition

Oil on canvas, with an old lining. There is an old circular patch on the reverse at upper right which corresponds to a visible tear in the background. The surface is in overall fair condition. Areas of pigment separation and craquelure throughout, as well as a dry, flattened paint surface. Under UV light, the majority of the surface is covered in a green fluorescing varnish, though there are some scattered areas of retouching to the craquelure visible.
