Description

  • 19cm., 7¾in. high
the bucket-shaped bodies engraved with a crest below Earl's coronet and above reeded bands, lion mask and drop ring handles, detachable liners and rims, all pieces numbered 1-4 bodies No 1-4 and with  scratchweights 73=15, 74=9 1/2, 73= 11 1/2 and 73=2

Condition

marked on each piece, one body with indistinct date letter otherwise good and clear marks, a few nicks and dents commensurate with age, one body with a little section of bruising and possible minor split generally in good condition

Catalogue Note

The crest and coronet are those of Fortescue, Earls Fortescue, probably for Hugh Fortescue (1753-1841), Baron Fortescue of Castle Hill, who on 1 September 1789 was created Viscount Ebrington, Gloucestershire, and Earl Fortescue.
