shaped oval form, with gadrooned rims and engraved coat-of-arms, reverses engraved No 13 and  No 14 with scratchweights 88=7 and 89

Catalogue Note

The arms are those of Ponsonby impaling Fane for John William, 4th Earl of Bessborough (1781-1847) who succeeded to the title upon the death of his father in 1844. He, who was Lord Lieutenant of co. Carlow from 1826 to 1832 and for Nottingham from 1832 to 1834, married in 1805 at her father’s house in Berkeley Square, Maria (1787-1834), third daughter of John, 10th Earl of Westmorland.
