The two boxes decorated with brick motifs decorated with calibré-cut rubies, the larger box measuring approximately 3 5/8 by 2¾ by 5/8 inches, gross weight approximately 139 dwts, signed Mauboussin, France, numbered 61909 and x630; the smaller measuring approximately 2¾ by 1 7/8 by 3/8 inches, gross weight approximately 90 dwts, unsigned, numbered 62723 and x1421 France. Both with fitted snakeskin envelopes.

Condition

In good condition overall, unless otherwise noted. The LARGER box has light scratching and minor denting to the surface. Fitted with an interior mirror and a well for powder (accompanied by a pressed powder insert and powder puff from Elizabeth Arden). Rubies are a bright medium red and are well matched in color. The compact opens by pressing downward on the ruby thumbpiece. The envelope is mocha colored snakeskin with brown suede interior. The SMALLER box shows light scratching and minute denting to the surface. Fitted with an interior mirror that is watermarked in several spots. With two hinged compartments.
