Description

  • emerald, diamond, platinum
Centring on a cushion-shaped emerald weighing 7.99 carats, surrounded by ten brilliant-cut diamonds together weighing 5.30 carats, the shoulders pavé-set with circular-cut diamonds, mounted in platinum. Ring size: 6¼

Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to the Gubelin and SSEF reports, the emerald is of Colombian origin, with no indications of clarity enhancement. Please refer to the reports for details. Also accompanied by a special appendix from SSEF. In our opinion, the emerald is of exceptional gemstone quality, of brilliant, intense emerald green colour, very clean to the naked eyes. Under 10x loupe there are minute natural inclusions which is very rare for an emerald of this size without clarity enhancement. The surrounding round diamonds are all accompanied by GIA reports stating that the diamonds are of E-F colours, VVS1 to SI1 clarity. The smaller diamonds are of similar colour and clarity. Condition: In very good condition.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.

Catalogue Note

Accompanied by Gübelin and SSEF reports numbered 14101035 and 80727, dated 31 October 2014 and 29 June 2015 respectively, stating that the 7.99 carat emerald is natural, of Colombian origin, with no indications of clarity enhancement. The SSEF Appendix Letter further states that 'its attractive and saturated green colour is due to a combination of well-balanced trace elements in the stone, typical and characteristic for the finest emeralds of Colombia...A natural emerald from Colombia of this size and quality is rare and exceptional.' Also accompanied by SSEF Premium Appendix folio.
Further accompanied by ten GIA reports, stating that the ten diamonds ranging from 0.57 to 0.51 carat diamonds are E to F colour, VVS1 to SI1 clarity.
