Catalogue Note
George and I set off to visit an Aunt living in London. What a thrill it was. Mother got my white muslin dresses ready, and, although the war was still on, my Aunt wrote to say that the bombing seemed to have stopped, and George and I would love the little village of Palmers Green."Take the tube to the end - Finsbury Park - I will be waiting for you" she wrote, but when we arrived everything was in confusion. I found that there had been a bad bombing raid during the night, a whole row of houses along the Seven Sisters Road had been set on fire and lots blown to pieces, no traffic could pass - however a policeman gathered everyone together and soon George and I were on our way to Palmers Green and the year was 1917.
