Condition
Original canvas. The canvas appears sound. There is a patch to the canvas in the bottom left corner. There is an area of loss to the canvas at the extreme bottom left corner, thought to have occurred as a result of the stretcher beneath. There are one or two very fine lines of reticulation across the work. There are some lines of craquelure across the work, with some minor signs of light lifting and some very minor flecks of loss. There is some rubbing to the extreme edges of the canvas, most likely as a result of frame abrasion, which has resulted in some flecks of loss, most apparent along the right vertical edge. There is some light surface dirt and studio detritus across the work.
Ultraviolet light reveals some scattered areas of fluorescence which may be inkeeping with some old retouching.
The work is presented in a painted wooden frame, which has lost one minor section of the frame to the right vertical edge.
