Condition
Original canvas. The canvas appears sound.
There are some slightly visible stretcher lines apparent at the lower vertical edges, the centre of the lower half of the work and towards the left side of the centre.
There are several very slight pressure marks visible in the dark and light blue pigments in the bottom quarter of the canvas.
There are some fine lines of craquelure apparent in isolated areas across the work, with some very small resultant losses and possible old areas of touching up in places. This is primarily apparent in the upper left quadrant of the work, and thought to be as a result of an indentation to the canvas, measuring approximately 80cm.
There is some light surface dirt across the work. There is some slight rubbing around the edges of the canvas in places, with some small scuffs and one or two associated flecks of loss. There is a small fleck of loss apparent in the light blue pigment in the lower left corner. There is some slight rubbing to the impasto tips of the paint.
There are some areas of slightly uneven surface to the mid-blue and maroon pigments in the lower right, possibly having occurred whilst the paint was wet, and in keeping with the artist's working method.
