Condition
Not viewed out of the frame. The canvas appears to be original. The canvas undulates slightly, but otherwise appears sound. There are some fine lines of reticulation in places. There are lines of cracquelure across the work, which have resulted in some small scattered losses and areas of lifting. There are several indentations to the black impasto surface, three towards the centre of the upper horizontal edge and one towards the centre of the lower horizontal edge, which appear to be inkeeping with the artist's working method. There is an old pressure mark in the upper right quadrant. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in good overall condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals some minor area of florescence towards the extreme edges of the composition.
The work is float-mounted with a batten, and presented in a square-profile painted wooden tray frame, held under glass.
