Condition

Original canvas. The canvas appears sound. There is some cracking to the paint at the extreme outer edges where the canvas curves round the stretcher, most apparent at both the vertical edges and towards the left side of the lower horizontal edge, thought to be as a result of the stretcher beneath. There is a very fine line of craquelure towards the left of the upper horizontal edge, and a further spot inside the circle at the centre of the lower horizontal edge. There are one or two small flecks of loss at the centre of the lower horizontal edge. There is some light surface dirt across the work. Subject to the above, the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching. The work is unframed. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
