Catalogue Note

The Ivy famously defied the Blitz and never closed despites its windows being blown in in 1940. The drawings in the present lot along with lot 408 depict that era and the immediate post war period when rationing was imposed in restaurants and The Ivy was not allowed to charge more than five shillings for a three course meal.
