Condition

Original canvas. There is a pinhole at the upper right corner of the composition, which appears to be consistent with the artist's working method. Frame abrasion is visible at the extreme edges of the canvas and there are small scattered areas of paint loss across the composition, predominately in the white areas of tempera. There is surface dirt across the painting and several spots of surface matter in the lower left quadrant. With the exception of the above the work appears to be in good condition. Ultraviolet light reveals an area of florescence at the left vertical edge of the composition with further small scattered spots across the composition which seem to correspond with flecks of paint loss. The work is presented in a painted and gilt frame. Please contact the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
