The original panel appears to be stable. There are some horizontal lines throughout the composition which result from the grain of the wood. These appears to be consistent with the artist's materials. There is an old horizontal scratch which is inherent to the panel in the upper left quadrant of the composition, at the brow of the hill, in the tree line. There is some paint cracking and several areas of paint loss in the sky, with surface scuffs in the lower left and the centre left of the composition and further flecks of loss at the very centre of the composition and to the left of the barn with a red door. Some light traces of surface dirt can be seen throughout. With the exception of the above the work appears to be in good condition. Ultraviolet light reveals several scattered lines of florescence which appear to indicate sensitively executed restoration. The work is presented in a painted wooden frame.
