Exhibited
New York, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Recent Gifts and Purchases, 16th September - 16th October 1977.
Condition
Original canvas. The canvas undulates in places. There are a few areas of paint separation and craquelure, including to the black pigment in the lower left quadrant, two spots to the black pigment in the upper left quadrant, and one spot to the dark green pigment in the lower centre.
Ultraviolet light reveals several minor flecks of retouching, including one to the centre of the composition, two to the yellow pigment at the centre of the left vertical edge, and one towards the centre of the upper horizontal edge. There are areas of further fluorescence, which are thought to be as a result of an uneven varnish, and not indicative of retouching.
The work is housed in a simple painted wooden frame.
