Catalogue Note
GIFTED ON THE DAY OF ROOSEVELT'S DEATH TO HIS CHIEF POLITICAL ADVISER AND FRIEND
Henry Cabot Lodge (1863-1945) and Roosevelt first met at Harvard, and remained close friends as well as political allies throughout their lives. Roosevelt died in the early hours of 6 January 1919; later that same day, his wife Edith inscribed this copy for Lodge.
