Catalogue Note
The last of Twain's books to be published during his lifetime. The first edition appeared printed on three varying weights of paper with no known precedence; the sheets of this copy measure ⅝" bulk.
Ethel Donaldson Sloan (1886 - 1978) met Twain in Bermuda a few months before he died, although their acquaintance was unknown to Twain scholars until very recently. A poem he wrote for her dated 14 February 1910 is thought to be one of his last works.
