8vo, 3 volumes, wood-engraved frontispieces and illustrations in the text (apparently after the author), 12pp. publisher's catalogue at end of volume 1 (dated 1 June 1841), 16pp. catalogue dated April 1842 inserted at the beginning of volume 2, original blue-green fine-diaper cloth pictorially blocked in blind on upper covers, spines lettered in gilt (earlier state of volume 1 without "VOL I" on spine), yellow endpapers, ownership inscription "Dalkeith 1842" on title-page of volume 2, partially erased inscription on upper paste-down of volume 1, cloth folding box, minor spotting, neat repairs to a few nicks of the cloth on the spines (3)
