Sub-titled "a play from Kenneth Grahame's book 'The Wind in the Willows'", this was the first adaptation of the novel. Milne included an introduction which stated "I have, I hope, made some sort of entertainment, with enough of Kenneth Grahame in it to appease his many admirers, and enough of me in it to justify my name upon the title-page". The play was first performed at the Lyric Theatre on 17 December 1929.
