It is assumed that this "presentation edition" of Burnett's bewitching story of The Secret Garden appeared only a few years after the publication of the 1911 first edition in New York and London, since the flaps of the dust-jacket advertise two titles brought out by publisher Frederick Stokes in the years 1912-13. Retailing at $1.50 rather than the $1.35 asked for the first edition, this volume is complete with its dust-jacket, decorated with the same elaborate attractive floral border as the cover of the book itself.
