  • Three "Christopher Robin" books. London: Methuen and Co. Ltd., 1929-1932, comprising:
  • paper
i) The Christopher Robin Story Book. 1929, illustrated by E.H. Shepard, original blue cloth gilt, dust-jacket, slight spotting to endpapers, minor wear to jacket; ii) The Christopher Robin Birthday Book. 1930, illustrations by Shepard, young ownership signatures on pp. 70 and 171, original red cloth gilt, dust-jacket, bookplate, minor wear and spotting to jacket; iii) The Christopher Robin Verses. 1932, plates in colour and text illustrations by Shepard, original blue cloth gilt, dust-jacket, some slight wear and a few nicks to the jacket; all first editions thus, 8vo (3)

Condition

i) As stated in the cataloguing, there is some spotting to the front and rear endpapers, with some additional spotting to the preliminarie. The top edge also shows some slight spotting. The foot of the spine is very slightly bumped. The dust-jacket is worn at extremities, with a few chips along the edges, and the spine is somewhat darkened. ii) There are two ownership inscriptions and a bookplate affixed to the front paste down endpaper. There is some spotting to the fore-edge of the text block, and the head and foot of the spine are both lightly bumped. The dust-jacket is worn at extremities, with some chips, the spine darkened and some losses at the head and foot of the spine. The upper panel is slightly spotted. iii) There is some browning to the rear free endpaper, and occasionally to page edges but otherwise the book is clean internally. The upper board is very slightly bowed, and the head of the spine is lightly bumped, as is one area on the fore-edge of the lower board. As with the previous books in the lot, the dust-jacket is worn at edges, with some chips, and a few closed tears. There is some spotting on the verso of the jacket.
