Condition
The painting overall presents a clear and brightly defined image. The copper is flat and in good condition, the paint surface is stable.
The painting appears to have been recently restored and inspection under ultraviolet light reveals extensive retouching scattered throughout the figures and background.
The painting requires no further work and is ready to hang in its current state.

This painting on copper is stylistically close to works by the painter Luis Juárez, who was active in Mexico in the first half of the 17th century. The work may have been painted by an artist working in his immediate circle.
