Description

  • bronze
the compressed globular body cast with pendent and upright lappets encircling the neck and foot, all between the mouthrim and foot cast with beaded edges, with a pair of protruding lion-head handles flanking the sides, the base with a two-character seal mark reading gushi ('in the style of antiquity'), the patina of a deep chocolate-brown tone

Condition

The incense burner is in overall good condition. There is a patch of discolouration at the junction between the foot and the body on one side, and some surface wear and occasional pitting consistent with the age and the type. The mouthrim has a inner inside ridge indicating that it may originally had a cover, now missing.
