comprising: forty dessert spoons; seven, incuse stamped 'M R'; eighteen 18th/19th century examples, and fifteen matched 20th century examples, Venice, 1872-1934; thirty-seven dessert forks; four, incuse stamped 'M R'; ten, Venice, late 18th/early 19th century, seven Turin, 19th century, fifteen matched 20th century examples, Venice, 1872-1934, and one slightly differing example, unmarked; twelve pastry forks, late 18th/early 19th century; all pieces with scalloped trefoil terminals; sixteen teaspoons; twelve, maker's marks rubbed, Rome, 19th century; four, Prato 1944-68; and twenty-eight 18th/19th century pistol handled knives, marks rubbed, some Venice, all with modern stainless steel blades, contained in three ornately gilt-tooled leather and brass-mounted cutlery boxes,
Condition
The cases are in fairly good order given their age but are frayed sand show signs of water damage/discolouration. The brass lock plates all need looking at. The knives are worn and with later replaced blades. The modern flatware with little signs of wear. The 18th/19th century pieces with rubbed marks with heavier wear to the bowls and tines. Would recommend viewing if possible.
