Catalogue Note

A fully dressed nayika lies asleep, dreaming on a canopied bed with an indigo coverlet. Her head and feet propped on pillows - her body twisting slightly.  Against a brilliant vermilion red ground, its emotionally-charged color and tall upstanding trees, perhaps an indication of her passionate thoughts of her absent - but soon to return - beloved.

The second, an expressive and "folkish" illustration from a thikana (province) of Marwar depicting the two lovers, Dhola and Maru, riding a mauve-colored camel.
