Catalogue Note
A folio from a dispersed ragamala series, Vasant Ragini. Krishna and Radha in a stately dance as two musicians play cymbal and drum. She holds a sprig of blossoms and he holds a globular flask. Two distant palm trees stand upright sprouting leaves offering the promise of fertility. A delicately executed and quite formal evocation of Spring, the time of the Holi festival, their terrace splashed with red dye beneath their feet.
