Catalogue Note

Goodwood Racecourse, established in 1802, is located five miles north of Chichester, West Sussex, and hosts the annual Glorious Goodwood meeting, a highlight of the British racing calendar. Since its creation, Goodwood has been under the stewardship of the family of the Duke of Richmond. The flag atop the building behind the grandstands appears to be the Royal Standard of the United Kingdom, which may be flown during a visit by the King or Queen of England.
