Catalogue Note

Karl Nierendorf was a director of the Neumann & Nierendorf gallery in Berlin, which notably held several important exhibitions of Munch's graphic work. In his correspondence with Munch he expresses an ardent admiration for the artist and reveals a desire to add more of his work to his own personal collection, which had begun with a number of Munch's prints.
