Condition

Executed in terracotta and painted. There is rubbing to the surface consistent with age and handling. There are a few medium losses to the hair and some chips and abrasions to the base, also consistent with age and handling. There is some adhesive residue to the underside of the base. Otherwise this work is in good condition.

Catalogue Note

This sculpture was acquired by Stanley Seeger's mother in 1952 from the Galleria dell'Obelisco in Rome. Since the work was not signed, she sent it to the artist, who returned it signed and painted it red as a surprise.
