Condition

The canvas is not lined. UV examination reveals two thin lines of fluorescence, possibly pertaining to transfer of the gilt from the frame, running along the lower part of the extreme left edge and the centre part of the extreme upper edge. There is one pin hole to the lower part of the right edge and another to the upper part of the left edge. There is a tiny spot of paint loss to the thick pigment to the centre of the upper right quadrant. There is an old layer of varnish which could be removed by a conservator. Overall this work is in very good condition.
