After 18 successful years, the legendary reference 5016 Grand Complication with minute repeater, tourbillon, perpetual calendar, retrograde date, and moon phases evolved into the reference 5216. This timepiece brings the minute repeater to a further level of sophistication by launching the legendary caliber R TO 27 PS QR LU movement with the five most popular complications in a larger case that encloses a more voluminous resonant cavity to enhance the sonority of the chimes.

With over 170 years of history, Patek Philippe has managed to make its name a synonym of the highest quality complications with minute repeating function.  The production of wristwatches with minute repeaters is still delivered by the most skilled watchmakers and the movements are regarded as some of the most complex of watch mechanisms. It can easily take up to 200 to 300 hours to assemble, after which the watch must be perfectly tuned to the superlative standard of sound for which Patek Philippe is famous.

This new Grand Complication follows in the footsteps of the famous 5016 that was launched in 1993 and has been widely popular among aficionados. The reference 5216 ranks number 4 in most complicated Patek Philippe wristwatches in current production, behind the Sky Moon Tourbillon 6002, the Triple Complication 5208, and the 5207 (see lot 207).

The present Patek Philippe reference 5216 is being offered in its original sealed box.
