Condition

The present lot is factory sealed and has not been tested for accuracy or duration of the power reserve. The movement runs. In like-new condition, double sealed in a factory box and plastic wrap. Please be advised that bands made of materials derived from endangered or otherwise protected species (i.e. alligator and crocodile) are not sold with the watches and are for display purposes only. We reserve the right to remove these bands prior to shipping. Please note that the present lot is being offered in its original factory seal. Because the strap must be removed in order for the watch to be shipped out of the United States, the factory seal will need to be broken. Buyers should be aware that breaking the seal may cause the lot to decrease in value.

Please note that we do not guarantee the authenticity of any individual component parts, such as wheels, hands, crowns, crystals, screws, bracelets and leather bands, since subsequent repairs and restoration work may have resulted in the replacement of original parts. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a Certificate of Origin confirming sale in 2013, instructions, booklets, two leather folders, presentation case and outer packaging.

Ref. 5539 was launched in 2013, replacing the Ref. 5339. It was made available only in white gold, and this year at Basel a version with a blue dial was released. The model is coveted by collectors for its Officier-style case and handsome enamel dial with Breguet numerals. The simplicity of the design of the watch belies its extraordinarily complex movement featuring both a tourbillon and a minute repeating function. According to our research, the present lot is one of only two to appear at auction.
