Catalogue Note

Piaget confirms production of the present lot in 1972.

The present model is the result of a collaboration between Yves Piaget and Salvador Dalí. Taking a cue from the coin-watch trend of the era, the legendary maison and artist created limited editions of 'Dalí D'Or' watches starting in 1967.

In the late 1960s, Dalí minted a currency of his own, with the help of Huguenin Frères. The coins existed in four denominations, from the 1/2 Dalí d'Or to the 5 Dalí d'Or. The present example features a 2 Dalí d'Or coin.
