The Patek Philippe reference 5078 was first released in 2005 and is a paragon of understatement. The minute repeating slide is discreetly hidden in the case flank revealing the talent of the complication only to true connoisseurs. Within the watch beats caliber R 27 PS, composed of 342 parts, the meticulously engineered and highly complex movement able to be admired through the sapphire crystal display back. The watch was first released with a platinum case and white enamel dial with black Roman numerals. The present lot features a black lacquered dial, added to the reference in 2010. According to our research, the 5078 has only been produced in approximately 100 examples.
