Catalogue Note

With a Cartier certificate, instruction manual and presentation box.

With a history spanning more than 160 years, Cartier treasures the importance of legacy and aspires to revive centuries-old craftsmanship. Enamelling and wood marquetry are both ancient miniature crafting techniques which can only be mastered by the most skilled craftsmen after long years of painstaking training.

Sea turtle has long been associated with longevity and tenacity in Asian culture. According to Chinese mythology, turtle is considered among the most sacred animals such as phoenix, qilin and dragon. This exquisitely executed wood marquetry dial showcases a turtle shell adorned by polychrome enamel, with its limbs playfully extending outside the dial to the bezel. The case back is further decorated with lively enamelling of a turtle taking a leisurely dip through the water. The combination of marquetry and enamelling lends both colour and texture to the dial, exuding an artistic aura which compliments the functionality of the timepiece.
