Catalogue Note

With a Patek Philippe Certificate of Orgin, instruction manual, solid case back, setting pin, presentation box and an Extract from the Archives.

Launched in 1995, the Patek Philippe Ref 3990 was the manufacturer’s first Grand Complication to be adorned with diamonds, combining the skills of haute horlogerie with haute joaillerie. Based on the perpetual calendar chronograph Ref 3970, this reference featured a bezel set with 40 baguette-cut diamonds and diamond-set hour indexes on the dial.

Ref 3990 was in production between 1995 and 2004, with examples in pink gold being introduced in 1997. According to our research, only a few hundred pieces were made in total, probably less than a hundred in each case material.  The present example is an exquisite "pink on pink" version and only a handful of this version has appeared in the public market.  The present watch has remained with its original owner who is a scholar watch collector and is one of the very few complete examples to appear at auction with the certificate of origin within a leather folder, original wooden box, solid numbered pink gold case back and stylus.
