Catalogue Note

Panerai PAM00599 Luminor Marina 8-Day wristwatch is created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Revolution magazine – one of the most reputable publications in haute horology. The model is not merely a special edition for a special occasion but so much more. All the elements involved in making Panerai successful today can be found in this watch. The watch is designed with the most iconic Luminor Marina case in black DLC-coating which is one of the innovative materials the Panerai collectors most appreciate. Inside is the in-house caliber P.5000, a hand-wound movement with two barrels in order to support eight day power reserve. Only 50 pieces of these commemorative watches will be sold and the current example that we are offering in the sale is numbered "00/50".

This is not the first collaboration of Sotheby's and Panerai. In 2006, Sotheby's also held a special thematic Panerai sale which was a great success and drew tremendous attention to the watch collecting world and enabled Panerai to align with the top Swiss watch manufacturers today. The proceed will benefit Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association, Queensland, and the donation will be made in the name of Mr. Alan Bloore, an ardent collector of Panerai watches well known on the online community - www.paneristi.com by his online moniker “Hammer”. The Paneristi is the most well organized forum created by watch devotees for like-minded individuals to express and share their own passion for Panerai watches.
