Catalogue Note

With Girard-Perregaux certificate, instruction manual, setting pin and a presentation box.

The Girard-Perregaux 'Opera Two' is based on ‘Opera One’ but added the perpetual calendar function with the other two highly coveted complications, minute repeater with carillon (Westminster Chime) and tourbillon, housed in a massive solid platinum case. The arrangement of the dial is not only elegant but comprehensible at the same time.  The perpetual calendar is indicated by three subsidiary dials which specify the correct date even in leap years.  Featuring the transparent apertures also allowed the wearer to admire the two most appreciated functions of the watch, the tourbillon and minute repeating apparatus.  The Westminster chime marks the hours, quarters and minutes using four hammers to play a melody of four different notes.  This distinctive tune, also known as the Cambridge chime, gains its name from the Church of St. Mary the Great, Cambridge. Highly appealing aesthetically, the ‘Opera Two’ minute repeating, perpetual calendar tourbillon wristwatch is arguably the most desired wristwatch among the Girard-Perregaux’s creations.
