Condition

Very good condition overall with some natural veining to the marble. Bacchus' proper right foot with big toe missing. Reclining child in the front proper left leg and right foot appear to have been partly replaced.

La composition est inspirée d'une gravure réalisée d'après le tableau du peintre Espagnol Jusepe de Ribera (Museo e Gallerie Nazionali di Capodimonte, Naples) et dont une planche de ce sujet est conservée au Metropolitan Museum of Art (Rogers Fund, inv. n° 22.67.14).
