Catalogue Note
Cette coupe peut-être attribuée à Sforza di Marcantonio de Guiliani, peintre originaire de Castel Durante, à Urbino dans les années 1530-40 dans l’entourage de Xanto Avelli puis dont la présence est attesté par un document à Pesaro en 1548. Son style est caractérisé par des tons peu contrastés, des profils angulaires, les sourcils tombant, les articulations et muscles arrondis et la calligraphie des légendes au revers des majoliques qui lui sont attribuées est également distinctive. Une coupe attribuée à Sforza, décorée de Enée et Anchise, conservée au Metropolitan Museum de New York est datée 1546, une autre coupe également de Sforza, datée 1547, décorée de Actéon est conservée au musée de Narbonne.
