Three Gold Cases

The first 14 karat gold vanity case set at the thumbpiece with four calibré-cut synthetic rubies, the interior inscribed, 'Louise L. Laskin,' fitted with a mirror, signed Tiffany & Co.; the second 18 karat gold cigarette case decorated with a basketweave motif, the thumbpiece set with a cabochon synthetic sapphire, the interior inscribed, 'Dwight D. Eisenhower Reims, France, 1945,' with French assay mark; the third 18 karat textured gold cigarette case, the interior inscribed, 'Al Major John Eisenhower El Alcalde de Madrid, 21-12-1959,' also bearing an inscription matching the signature of José Finat y Escrivá de Romaní, who was the Mayor of Madrid in 1959; total gross weight approximately 289 dwts.

TIFFANY & CO AND RUBY VANITY CASE: In good condition. The hinge to open the case is smooth and it clasps well. There is slight scratching and discoloration to the outside of the case. A few very small indentations to the front of the case. Inside the case, there are small circular, scratch patterns, accompanied by mild tarnishing to the metal in certain locations. The mirror has become unglued and appears to have been placed over the name of Louise S Laskin resulting in some discoloration due to the glue remnants. The mirror is significantly chipped along the edges and also has some discoloration though is still intact and could be glued again into its prior location. The rubies are a medium purplish red hue with slight inclusions. BASKETWEAVE CIGARETTE CASE: In good condition. The hinge opens smoothly but the clasp which closes the case does not hold it closed. There is slight discoloration to the metal in a patch on one side of the exterior of the case with slight scratches and wear to the entire case, commensurate with age. The interior exhibits further indication of use in the form of scratches and tarnishing. It is fitted with a decorative foliate bar to secure the cigarettes. The sapphire is a very deep blue with a surface reaching inclusion visible upon close inspection which does not threaten the integrity of the stone. TEXTURED CIGARETTE CASE: In good condition. It exhibits scratches resultant of use and the spring-loaded mechanism which opens the case with a button on the side is smooth. Interior displays very minor scratching and mild discoloration to the metal. It is fitted inside with a bar for securing the cigarettes.
