The flexible sautoir composed of numerous seed pearls, with a diamond-set pendant-brooch and decorative panels of garland design, set with numerous round, old European and single-cut diamonds weighing approximately 4.90 carats, length 27 inches; pendant is detachable and may be worn as a brooch; circa 1915. With fitted case stamped E.M. Gattle & Co.
Condition
In very good condition, particularly considering the age of the piece. The variously shaped seed pearls range from a creamy white to silvery light gray body color with soft rose and green overtones. Good luster and moderate blemishing throughout, mainly in the form of wrinkled and uneven skins. The center diamond in the pendant-brooch is approximately H-I color, SI-I clarity, mainly due to a large surface-reaching feather located directly under the table of the stone. The remainder of the diamonds range from approximately G-I color, predominantly VS-SI clarity. The sautoir is well-made and nicely flexible, with fine detailing throughout. Pendant is detachable, with length approximately 2 inches. Please note the pearls have not been tested for natural origin.
