Designed as a dragonfly with an articulated tail, set with 12 cabochon sapphires measuring approximately 3.6 to 2.2 mm, accented by round diamonds weighing approximately 1.40 carats, the body centered by an opal, gross weight approximately 13 dwts.

Condition

In good condition, The sapphires are medium violetish blue and moderately included. The enameling on the wings is fully intact and iridescent. The opal has a tanslucent white bodycolor with patchwork play of color, most of the flashes are green and orange. Under magnification the opal exhibits some moderate crazing. The single-cut diamonds are approximately G-J color and range from VS-SI clarity. The body of the dragonfly is nicely flexible. The length of the brooch is 2½ inches and the width is 3 inches.
